After the local water system in Sirt, Turkey broke, women walked miles to fill containers from a trickle of water. One woman joked that they should deny any intimacy to their husbands until the system was fixed. The joke grew into a protest. The husbands went to the municipality, asking for help or at least to be given parts so they could fix the pipes themselves.
